Life has continued to fly by and here I find myself 4 days away from going to Haiti! I can't wait! I always get kinda nervous right before these big trips, but this one has been such a blessing and something I've been looking forward to! Yes, I'm nervous and will probably be freaking out Friday night at 8 pm when I'm packing and thinking of every possible scenario that could happen there, but in the meantime I'm pumped!
One special thing about this trip that makes it unusual, is that I'm going with some of the players on the OU Women's Basketball team. Because of their connections, Nike has agreed to support us with shirts, shorts, and socks... how cool is that?! I also get to go with my friend Adam (who led the Nicaragua trip I went on last year) and his family, which should be a blast! One cool story God already blessed me with, is that a girl I used to coach in Shawnee when I was in college and she was in high school, is also going on the trip...small world huh!??! God is just full of crazy surprises!
I looked up the weather report for Port au Prince today and it seems like it's going to be a HOT and WET week, with temps in the high 90s and rain/thunder storms every single day. But heck, I've lived in Oklahoma long enough now to be used to that, right? :)
Anyway, I came across this verse in Isaiah and I'm super pumped about it because it totally jumped out at me because of the weather and the people we will be blessed to serve this next week. It's Isaiah 25:4: "You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat." It's such a great picture of what I can't wait to see next week!
Thanks to everyone that has financially supported me for this trip and thanks also for those who are lifting it up in prayer! I can't wait to share everything that we experience, see, and feel over there when I get back!
